Venue
Sometimes described as “the most innovative square mile on the planet,” Kendall Square in Cambridge is a fitting home for ICQE 2027. Overlapping with the MIT campus and just across the Charles River from Boston, Kendall brings together an unusually dense ecosystem of research institutions, startups, global technology companies, investors, and public-sector organizations.
For ICQE 2027, this setting offers a living example of how science, engineering, entrepreneurship, and policy can converge to shape the future. We hope participants will have time between sessions to wander around, continue conversations informally, and experience some of the chance encounters that make Kendall Square such a dynamic place.

Conference Venue: MIT Wong Auditorium
Most talks will take place in MIT’s Wong Auditorium, a spacious and luminous 289-seat venue on the first floor of Building E51. Located steps from Kendall Square, it will be the central hub for ICQE 2027.
The adjoining Ting Foyer and Wolk Lobby will provide space for registration, posters, breaks, and informal conversations throughout the conference.

Lunch, Meetings, Recreation: Kendall Square
Kendall Square is also a great setting for spending time between sessions. The area around the venue has cafés, restaurants, welcoming open spaces, and plenty of outdoor seating. It is also often buzzing with public events and cultural programming, and we encourage participants to explore the neighborhood during the conference.

Getting Around
Kendall Square is easy to reach by public transport, bike, rideshare, or on foot. The Kendall/MIT stop on the MBTA Red Line is the closest subway stop to the conference area, and several local bus routes also serve the neighborhood.
For those staying nearby, walking is often the simplest way to move between the hotels, the conference venue, MIT, and the river.
We recommend the Kendall Hotel and the Boston Marriott Cambridge and the Kendall Hotel, both located within easy walking distance of the conference venue. More information about hotel options and room block rates will be added later in 2026.
Bluebikes, the Boston-area public bike-share system, is also available around Cambridge for participants who prefer to get around by bike. Once on campus, MIT’s online map, is the easiest way to find buildings, rooms, and walking routes across campus.
For visitors coming from out of town, Kendall Square is easy to reach from Boston Logan International Airport and from the city’s main train station, South Station. The conference area is about 15-20 minutes from the airport by taxi or rideshare, and can also be reached by public transport via the Silver Line to South Station, followed by the Red Line to Kendall/MIT. South Station is directly connected to Kendall Square by the Red Line, making it convenient for participants arriving by Amtrak or regional rail.
